FAQ

Is Document.Bot Offline?

Not always. Document.Bot is local-first because it works with a folder on your computer, but online AI providers or hosted indexing can send relevant content to a service. Check your selected AI provider and indexing settings.

Can I Use My Own AI Provider?

Yes, depending on your build. Document.Bot can support managed AI, ChatGPT Login, API-key providers, enterprise providers, custom OpenAI-compatible endpoints, and local/offline setups.

Does An API Key Replace My Document.Bot Account?

No. Provider API keys are separate from Document.Bot account access, subscription status, device activation, and usage limits.

Should I Point Document.Bot At My Whole Computer?

No. Use a focused workspace folder for one task or project. Broad folders create noisy results and may include files you did not intend to use.

What File Types Work Best?

PDFs, Word files, spreadsheets, Markdown, text files, HTML, and images are common Document.Bot inputs. Support can vary by build and workflow.

Can Document.Bot Edit My Files?

Document.Bot can support AI-assisted drafts and file changes in some workflows. Review proposed changes before accepting them.

Can I Trust The AI Answer?

Trust the source inspection workflow, not the answer by itself. Open the cited files and verify important claims in the original document.

How Does Document.Bot Test And Improve Results?

Document.Bot is tested with realistic document workflows, public benchmark-style cases, official PDF forms, source-backed answer checks, and customer-style evaluation cases. Read How we test and improve Document.Bot for the full methodology.

Why Is Indexing Slow?

Indexing time depends on folder size, file complexity, selected file types, model choice, and your computer. Start with a smaller folder and expand later.

What Happens If I Hit A Usage Limit?

Document.Bot should show a recovery message and account settings action. Depending on the limit, you may be able to upgrade, switch provider, use offline indexing, choose a smaller workspace, or continue with partial results.

Is Document.Bot A Document Management System?

No. Document.Bot works with existing folders and files. It does not replace SharePoint, Google Drive, Box, or a formal document management system.

Is Document.Bot Compliance Software?

No. It can help with document review, source finding, and drafting. It does not guarantee compliance or replace qualified reviewers.
